So, for whatever reason you are to a point in your life where you are considering doing a juice cleanse. Maybe you watched the movie “Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead” and got really inspired? Or it’s possible you read our post about why you might want to do a juice cleanse? Or maybe you heard something about doing a juice cleanse from somewhere else, and some of the benefits including weight loss, detox, or the many other health benefits.
What Length Of A Juice Cleanse Are You Wanting To Do?
Maybe you are considering diving right in and going for 30 days? Or maybe you are looking to just get your feet wet and do a shorter juice cleanse?
For many people the prospect of doing a 30 day or longer juice cleanse right from the get go can be overwhelming or above their current budget. Another scenario is that you might get really inspired to do a longer juice cleanse, and then once it gets underway, you run into issues that you were not expecting.
Doing a longer juice cleanse can definitely be a challenge, and just because you or anyone else didn’t make it through the entire 30 days the first time, doesn’t equal failure. It means you’ve learned something that you didn’t know before. After getting as far as you did you may realize you need to take other things into consideration that you had no idea about before? There’s no experience like first hand experience, and thinking about doing a juice cleanse and actually doing one are two very different things.
I will say this, deciding to make a change in your life is the first step.
Sometimes you make that decision and have the motivation to dive into your juice cleanse head first, hit the ground running, and never look back. Sometimes after a few days you might feel like this is much more difficult than you were expecting and realize that you need to rethink your strategy. This is completely okay!
Smaller Steps Are Ok
What I’m trying to say is that it’s okay to start smaller sometimes and take some smaller steps towards a bigger goal. For example, it might be a good idea for you to try a shorter juice cleanse to start out with. Not only will this feel like a smaller chunk to bite off (or juice off), but for many this will be an easier way to introduce such a drastic change in their diet.
If you are coming from a diet where you are consuming lots of fast food or other types of junky food, it can be a small shock to your system to suddenly switch over to a pure diet of fully living raw nutrition. I’m not saying this is a bad thing, in fact, this is not what I’m saying at all.
What I’m saying is that some of us may need to ease into this change at a different pace than others. If you feel like you want to dive right into it and are feeling inspired, do not let me get in your way! This can be a great way to change your diet into a better one, and for some people this is what is needed. Some situations call for larger changes.
A Juice Cleanse As The First Step Towards A Healthier Lifestyle!
In the long run, what is really important is that you choose to make a healthier lifestyle for yourself , which includes a healthy diet that is more sustainable and long lasting. This is important whether you do this by jumping right into a 30 day or longer juice cleanse, or you do this by beginning with a shorter one.
Either one of these options can be a great way to make some changes in your life that can have some amazing overall results. Committing to a shorter juice cleanse can be the first step that will change your life for the better! Or maybe a longer juice cleanse is what you are looking for, and you are ready to make a big change immediately in your life? Whichever one of these you choose, you are taking action and choosing to take a step in the direction towards a better life for yourself.
Liisa and myself, who both run this blog have done multiple juice cleanses and blogged daily during a 30 day juicing cleanse where we each lost around 27 pounds. You can read more about our 30 day spring juice cleanse experience by clicking that link.
Some Benefits Of Making Your Own Juice During Your Juice Cleanse
When we first began juice cleansing there weren’t all of these pre-packaged juice cleanses that we see around now! Every day we see more and more “juice cleanses” where you buy the juices all pre-made and these are either shipped to you or you pick them up somewhere. We would like to say that you really should consider buying your own juicer, and making your own fresh raw juices when doing your juice cleanse. We even wrote a guide to help you make your own green juice recipes right from your home!
One benefit of buying a juicer and making your own juices is that you will also be able to continue to juice after the juice cleanse, because you will own your own juicer. The price of a pre-made juice cleanse can cost as much as the juicer alone in many cases, and when you are done with those kinds of juice cleanses you will not be able to continue juicing on your own. At home, with your own juicer, you can juice fresh produce that contains more of the nutrients that will benefit you the most.
Juices, no matter how they are packaged do tend to lose some nutritional value as the days go by. There are ways of properly storing juices that will minimize this loss of nutrition. Having your own juicer will also give you the option of making your own fresh, raw, and living juices on the spot. These juices will contain the most amount of nutrients because they have not had any time to degrade whatsoever. Not to mention the flavor can be much better when you are drinking a juice that was just made by you, versus a packaged juice (You’ll learn what you like, and can make it that way every time!) . You also have the benefit of really knowing what went into the juice, because you made it yourself!
If you are on a budget and would like to get a juicer at the best price possible, we have written an article that includes our top picks for the best budget juicers below $100 in price.
We also have another page that covers which juicer may be best for you and we talk in more detail about all the different types of juicers, as well as their different pros and cons. Both of these pages will benefit you whether you are looking to purchase a juicer, or are looking for information about what juicer is right for you before you make your purchase.
We also wrote an article all about juicing on a budget that can help you to get the most for your money when juicing for yourself.
Consider This Before Going Pre-Packaged
I wanted to include that if you do decide to go for a pre-packaged juice cleanse just be sure to do your research so that you know it’s coming from a reputable place, and that the juices you’re drinking will be as fresh as possible. I’m not completely knocking those types of juice cleanses, it is just my personal opinion that you can get much more in the long run from owning your own juicer and making your own juices from home. On the other hand if doing a pre-packaged juice cleanse is the only way you can fit one into your busy schedule then in my opinion it’s worth it (Once again if you’re getting it from a reputable place and you’re getting enough juice into your body every day!) .
Doing The Juice Cleanse!
Once you have your juicer, the next step will be actually doing your juice cleanse! If you are still unclear about how you should be doing your juice cleanse, or what types of juices you should be including during your juice cleanse, we suggest you taking a look at our Juice Cleansing Info Page or consider downloading a copy of our very affordable and complete Juice Cleanse Guide.
