We just wanted to talk a little bit about something that we have both learned over time. When talking about health, stress reduction can be just as important as our diet! During a juice cleanse this is very important! Adding extra stress, or over worrying about things we cannot control, can seriously derail your mind and knock you off track. When you are calm and focused, you will find it much easier to stay on track.
We know with ourselves, and also with many of you that the business of our lives can make it challenging to find that calm place inside of us. We are currently on day 11 of a juice cleanse, and we purposefully took it much easier at the beginning of this juice cleanse, versus some we have done in the past. We are finding this makes it much easier! It’s still not perfect and there are challenges along the way, but it has made it a much smoother ride.
Stress Can Seriously Derail Your Success
Stress can lead to so many disruptions in our body, spirit, and mind. One of the ways that many of us attempt to relieve this stress is to seek comfort. For many of us comfort is FOOD, and a lot of the time it is unhealthy food, and/or too much of it!
These patterns of seeking comfort from something that we put into our body become a habit. There is nothing wrong with enjoying our food at all, and the enjoyment we receive from it is a natural reaction. Nourishment can taste good and it should! The issue begins when we overeat or put too much of an outside substance into our body, and start depending on it as a sort of crutch to deal with our emotions. If you have ever done an extended juice cleanse, you will realize how much we do this on a daily basis!
For many of us, when stress and problems come up we immediately start looking for a way to alleviate them. Dealing with emotional issues can have the same effect, and can have us looking for a way out! During our juice cleanses, and this one included, we have been forced to deal with some of our own emotions and problems more head on. We have learned that when these issues come up this is when we have cravings more, and are tempted to eat! This is also when we most start thinking self destructive types of thoughts, and when we allow thoughts of failure to fill us with doubt.
This is part of why we are learning that reducing stress to begin with, as much as possible is highly important! It should be one of our top priorities, and if you want to succeed with your health goals, then it should be one of yours also!
It Begins With Your Thinking
Some of this first begins with the limitations we impose on ourselves. If we tell ourselves that we are not going to succeed constantly, well then guess what? We most likely will not! This is the way many of us self-sabotage ourselves and never really even give our self the chance we deserve to begin with! Then, when the stress comes we immediately go back to what got us to the place we did not want to be to begin with.
It’s important that you change your thinking, or better yet, how you react to your thinking! You do deserve to be happier and healthier! You are the only person who is going to do this for yourself! Become your own best friend! What would you do, or say, to a good friend or family member that you care about if they were putting themselves down? Say this to yourself, because you are just as important as anyone else!
In fact I recommend that look at yourself in the mirror right now and tell yourself that you love you, and that you have your back! It may sound cheesy and feel weird the first time you do it, but letting yourself know that you’re there for YOU can be a life game changer.
What You Can Do To Deal With Stress
When stress comes do something good for yourself. Take a bath and unwind, watch an inspirational speaker or show, meditate, get outside of that situation, and do something caring for you! Do some yoga which also happens to double up as exercise and can increase your weight loss as well detox efforts during your juice cleanse!
Allow yourself to feel light and loving towards yourself, and this will go a long way towards your success with a juice cleanse, as well as any other pursuits in your life!
I write this post because this has been one of my biggest challenges, and I am learning the high importance of this in my own life. I have in the past tended to be a person who would take on way too much at one time, and this has in turn led to stress. Reducing my own stress during this juice cleanse that I am doing now, has helped tremendously! Do yourself a favor and practice reducing stress in your own life beginning today. There is no downside to this, only upsides!
