Starting a juice cleanse can be a very exciting time for anyone. Maybe you want to lose some weight, detox, or just get healthier? So now that you’re on the bandwagon and want to get started, what’s next?
Do you ever wonder what’s the best time of year to do a juice cleanse? Or to go even further what day of the week would be the best time to start? In this article I will go over multiple scenarios of when to start one and then you can choose the time and date that best fits your life and schedule.
THE FOUR SEASONS
I often hear people doing juice cleanses during the spring. Winter has just passed, it’s getting warmer and it’s more conducive for a cleanse. It’s also a good time to shake things up for the better. People do a juice cleanse in the spring to get their body’s ready and in shape for summer. This is also a good time to do a juice cleanse if you have a bit more weight that you want to lose and need a little more time to do it before summer starts. Plus, it’s the start of Farmer’s markets. Who can deny the goodness of fresh, local produce? I know I can’t.
Summer just may just be the best time to do a juice cleanse because it’s hot, so naturally something cold and refreshing sounds good. Also, most people tend to stay outdoors during this time so eating something heavy like a turkey dinner can’t always strike a person’s fancy. A nice, ice cold, and light juice sounds like it would hit the spot. Plus, you can lose those extra stubborn pounds in the process. One more thing, you will most likely have an abundance of produce including tropical pineapples, juicy mango, refreshing cucumber, and crisp romaine lettuce. Yum!
Fall is also a good time to do a juice cleanse because it’s a time of transition and the weather is not as cold as winter. For me, I find Autumn a great time get busy, start looking at my goals. I also find this time to be a bit more businesslike. The kids are going back to school, summer is dying off, the leaves are changing, and it’s time to get down to business! Maybe it’s a good time to review your goals and make a healthy change in your life after all the summer bbq’s with the family. Oh yea, and it’s apple season which is the base of most juice recipes, so go crazy with it!
Winter can be the most challenging time to do a juice cleanse due to the fact that it’s the coldest season of all. Cold juice + cold weather = more coldness. On top of this, you may not get the best prices on fresh produce during the off season, but don’t let this dissuade you. You can still do a juice cleanse. In fact, Sean and I (Liisa) did a juice cleanse from December to January and you know what, it wasn’t a big deal! I personally thought it would be harder, but we just made some adjustments and we were was just fine. For those of you who cannot wait and want to do a juice cleanse in the winter I have an article that has tips on how to stay warm when doing a juice cleanse in the winter. It includes tips like drinking hot herbal/caffeine-free teas, exercise, and hot showers/baths to stay warm.
TIME OF THE WEEK
There are days during the week that are most optimal to start a juice cleanse. And to be quite honest, it completely just depends on your schedule and what best fits you.
A lot of people who work a 9 to 5, Monday through Friday job like to do their juice cleanse during the weekend. They are not distracted by work, are more relaxed, and their weekend is a bit more flexible. It’s also a good time to do a juice cleanse because it may be complicated to store all your juice at work. Doing a cleanse on the weekend is also good for beginners because you can do a short cleanse of only a couple days. That will put some experience under you belt. Maybe next time you’ll want to do a 7 day juice cleanse…
The beginning of the week: Monday
I like to start my juice cleanses usually on Monday because it signifies a new start to me, the beginning of the week. This may also be a good time for a cleanse because the weekend is a time of celebration, via good food and drink. Come Monday, you want to start a healthier start.
The middle of the week, middle of the day, whenever.
Really, when it all boils down to it, it’s up to you. There’s no solid rule when and what time of year to do your juice cleanse. If it’s the beginning of a new year and you have a resolution to get in shape, do it! If it’s springtime and you’re ready to detox, go for it! Whenever is right for you, is the best time.
