Life is all about balance. Sometimes we find ourselves so out of balance that we need to really kick our diet into high gear to get healthy! Sometimes we just need to add some more healthy foods and beverages into our routine.

If you’re taking part in the challenge then congratulations on making it to yet another day, and continuing to increase your health and well being! Juicing is powerful and an excellent way of getting loads of nutrients into your body! By getting into the habit of adding fresh home made juices to your diet on a consistent basis, you are laying the foundation for optimizing your health even more!
Today we wanted to talk about some of the other factors that also will contribute to your overall well being.
You might be thinking that this is an obvious one, but you’d be surprised at how many people simply don’t get enough exercise on a consistent basis. Sometimes with our busy schedules exercise can become another item on an already full up list of things to do!
While it’s definitely good to get as much exercise as possible, you may need to adjust your thinking about exercise on some days. Too many of us take the all or nothing approach, and over-think our way into not getting any exercise. When you’re really busy or just having a hard time getting into the flow, remember that even 30 minutes of exercise in a day can have an overall positive effect on your well being!
If the thought of going to the gym and sweating on a machine has you avoiding exercise altogether, then just get up and go for a walk. If you can’t get out of the house and have no exercise equipment at home, that’s ok! Do some walking or jogging in place while you’re watching your favorite tv show. Mix it up a little and do some jumping jacks or squats while you’re at it! If you just get yourself started, before you know it you’ve put in a workout session, and you didn’t even have to leave home!
Whatever you do, don’t skip your exercise altogether and try to get at least 30 minutes every day!
Mental and Emotional Well Being
This is another very important factor that people forget about way too often! Changing up your diet and getting plenty of exercise will go a long way, but you wont stick with it in the long run if you don’t take care of yourself!
A lot of the issues that lead us to over-indulgence and other poor health choices are mental and emotional ones. Many of us turn to over-eating, substance abuse, or seeking comfort in other unhealthy ways because we haven’t been taking care of ourselves.
Here are a couple of ways you can begin to start taking care of YOU!
Be kind to yourself
Have you ever stopped and listened to how you talk to yourself sometimes? Do you find that you’re over-critical and way too hard on yourself? If your answer is yes, you’re not alone! This is a common problem that many of us face, fortunately for you the answer to beginning to deal with this is simple.
Think about this. Would you talk to a friend or loved one the way you talk to yourself? Would you be as hard on them as you are on yourself? Of course you wouldn’t! For some reason many of us do not share the same compassion with ourselves that we share with others!
You can start doing this right here and today by beginning to become your own best friend! You need yourself, and you deserve to be loved by you!
So begin very simply by being mindful of your self talk. The next time you find that you’re being too hard on yourself,or putting yourself down, think about how you would treat your closest loved one in the same situation. Give yourself some love and start walking the path of being your own best friend. It can be highly rewarding!
Relax More Often
Did you know that stress has been shown to actually lead to physical health issues? That’s right, stress is one of the biggest contributing factors to poor health. So many of us get so wound up that we forget to take a step back and chill out sometimes. We can even forget to breathe properly when we’re stressed!
Point being, sometimes one of the most productive things you can do for yourself is to simply take a break and allow yourself to unwind some! This goes hand in hand with being kind to yourself. Sometimes doing nothing for the day other than relaxing is the most productive thing you could do. Try it sometime, you’ll most likely notice that you’re refreshed and actually able to focus much better on everything else you want to get around to in your life.
Juicing is one part of an overall healthy diet, and is a great way to get dense loads of nutrition into your body that you might not otherwise get in the same amounts. For this juicing challenge all you have to do is drink one juice a day for 30 days, but hopefully in the long run you will focus more and more on increasing your overall health and well being! Our hopes is that this juicing challenge can be a way for you to really kick-start your diet into a higher gear, and work green juices into the mix of what you take into your body. By taking better care of your body and overall well being it will definitely take better care of you!
Again, for this juicing challenge adding in one juice a day is all that you need to do, but we would like to encourage you to think about the rest of your diet and maybe where you can make some positive changes. We have found a way of looking at this that has really helped us in the past, and still does to this very day! We both have had challenges with maintaining a healthy diet throughout a lot of our life (no you’re not alone!) and have found that many times it has to do with how we think.
We have noticed that if we focus too much on what we perceive we are removing from our diet, that we can really fool ourselves into feeling deprived. This can create a sort of longing and craving for something that we know isn’t good for us. It’s kind of like this. Let’s say that pizza is your favorite food, but you know that when you get pizza you east way too much of it. You also know that this has really been packing on the pounds, and you know you want to do something about that! Without thinking about it much, you normally go many days in between before eating pizza again. At least 1-3 days. You don’t really even dwell on it much, because you know if you want to go get some you can.
One day you set down the law and say no more pizza ever again! Suddenly you notice that very first day you’re already feeling as if you’re missing out on something. Next thing you know all you can think about is pizza! Not all of us have this problem, but many of us do. When we start “taking away” without focusing on what we’re adding in, we create this sort of synthetic craving. This can really build up, and before we know it we’re not only eating a few slices of pizza we’re eating 1 or 2 entire pizzas!
So…Instead of focusing on what you’re removing from your diet, focus on what you can add in. Adding juicing in as you have been already might be a big step for you alone, and we seriously want to congratulate you for taking this step into a bigger world! If you haven’t already, consider taking the next step and start adding something else healthy into your diet. Don’t focus on what your taking out, but instead add something else in.
Do you ever eat fruit? If you don’t a whole lot, go buy yourself a couple of apples, a few bananas, and a pear, or some other fruit that you like. Place it right on a counter or somewhere that is very accessible. Next time you get hungry instead of going right for the very thing you’re trying to not eat, pick up a piece of fruit instead. Heck, pick up two or three pieces of fruit and chow down! It doesn’t have to be only fruit either, you could make yourself a tasty salad instead. Be creative and throw some olives, peppers, or some other tasty veggie you like in there! This isn’t about deprivation, this is about getting more of the good stuff in!
Hopefully this has been some “food for thought” for you. 🙂 Remember, focus on what you’re adding in not what you’re “taking out” and you’re already a step ahead of the game! Enjoy your juice recipe today, it’s a good one!
