Today is day 16 of the 30 Days To Green Juicing Challenge and if you’ve been following the challenge every day we’re glad you’ve made it this far! Today we wanted to give you some tips to help keep you on track with your health goals, and keep you on your juicing game!
A Healthy Diet Doesn’t Take Away From, It Adds More To
Many people have a hard time maintaining a healthy diet and juicing habit, because they are much too focused on what they are taking out of their diet. If instead you start thinking more about what you can add to your diet you will have much more success in the long run.
Staying on track and making healthy choices for ourselves is much more of a mental and emotional battle than a physical one. It all starts with patterns that we slowly create for ourselves over the years, and these patterns become habits. Many of us run to food when we’re feeling unhappy, stressed, or any other kind of uncomfortable feeling. In this sense unhealthy eating and drinking patterns become kind of like an addictive cycle. We know what we’re doing isn’t good for us, but we continue to do it because we just don’t know how to stop!
We wanted to give you a couple pointers to help change your way of thinking altogether so that you can not only continue with your new found healthy juicing habit, but can also maintain an overall healthier diet in the long run!
As mentioned above, don’t focus on what you’re “taking out” of your diet, focus on adding in more good stuff!
If you’re craving something sweet like ice cream or a sugary beverage , then a sweet juice recipe or smoothie is a good replacement! This is a much better choice! The calories in juice and smoothies come with nutrients while the junk food doesn’t. If you’re craving a candy bar or some other kind of junk food, then how about trying to reach for a nice sweet piece of fruit first?
No doubt about it this might take some practice and time to take hold, but if you keep at it this has a good chance of becoming a healthy habit. You don’t have to jump into this all at one time, and then throw in the towel if you don’t succeed. Getting healthier and keeping up with it is a long term practice. It’s a marathon not a sprint.
Try this one thing: When you’re craving some kind of junk food or something else that you know isn’t your best choice, reach for a healthy alternative first. Then see how you feel after you’ve drank or eaten that. Do this consistently over time and it is very likely that you’ll begin to see some good results.
Don’t beat yourself up if you’re not perfect:
There might be times when your best laid out health plans don’t go exactly as you were hoping. Guess what? You’re not alone!
None of us are perfect, and we all face challenges along the way to getting healthier. When we first began juicing and making healthy changes to our diet do you think that we suddenly were radiant examples of glowing health? Heck no we weren’t! Not even close! It has taken us years to pick up healthy habits and maintain our juicing. We still aren’t perfect, and can tell you from experience that beating yourself up and feeling bad wont help you in the long run. You will never be perfect, because there is no such thing!
But you can definitely improve and become much better at taking care of your health and adding juicing into your diet.
