On day 21 of this juicing challenge we are mixing it up. It is a day of creativity and spontaneity. We are talking about adding spices, types of peppers, and fresh herbs. We have looked around the internet and found creative ways that other people are incorporating spices into their juices. For example, we have seen people make pumpkin spice juices. You can actually juice pumpkin, and then add cinnamon and nutmeg. That’s so cool! A good holiday drink.
Onto the spices and herbs! We will talk about a few and then maybe this will get your creative juices flowing. Just play around by adding some spice to your drink.
There are so many spices and herbs you can add to your juices. By the way, these herbs must be fresh, they cannot be dried. You’re not going to juice a dried apple are you? If an herb is dry, no liquid is going to come out. Herb wise you can add cilantro, basil, parsley, and dill. There are plenty of other herbs you can add to your juices, just use your imagination. We have found that cilantro pairs well with lemon, cucumber, celery. Basil can go with sweet and savory juices. It’s really up to you.
Peppers are also great to add to your juice. We are not talking about bell peppers, we’re talking cayenne, chili, black pepper, etc. We have a recipe on our cantaloupe juice cleanse recipes page that includes a red chili pepper. It is recipe number 3 and it’s called the cantaloupe kicker. It is sweet and delicious with just a little kick of spice. You can add cayenne powder to your juice to help increase your metabolism and help your blood flow. It also gives it a little kick of heat. This is especially helpful during the cold winter months when staying warm is so necessary. Some people use their juicer to make a completely raw Bloody Mary. They then add black pepper to it, as you do when making a Bloody Mary. This is just a couple of ideas to get you going.
Ok, onto the spices. You can put any type of spice in your juice. Like I mentioned above, people post recipes of pumpkin spice juices on the web. They juice pumpkin (yea, you can actually do that!) and then add cinnamon and nutmeg. You can make any holiday type drink in the juicer, just use your creativity. Here’s a crazy idea, try putting some curry powder in your juice. You’ll never know if you’ll like it until you try. There are a plethora of spices you can play with, just have fun!
Juicing can be fun. Adding spices, peppers, or herbs can give your juices a little kick of excitement. You can even serve your delicious juice concoctions to your friends and family. Have them over and make it a party!
Your Juice Recipe For Today
We decided to mix it up a little with this recipe and include basil. It is fragrant, delicious, and goes well in many things. Sean (1/2 of rawjuicecleanserecipes) wanted to use basil in a juice, so this juice was born. So, after much ado, here is The Tasty Tonic: You can click the image below to be taken to the recipe.
If you had to buy an entire bunch of celery for this juice recipe, that’s ok just hold onto the rest as we will be using more of it in 2 days from now!
